Turn off the tech toys this summer. Unplug. Unwind. And start turning a few pages.
Watch your world unfold.
Here at Grand Ideas, we’re savoring a dreamy Charleston summer full of wonderful books. Every so often, Grandee packs her Kindle and escapes to her cabin in Highlands, driving 5 hours to get to her rustic back porch and comfortable rocking chair. No cell service, no TV…just the music of birds and silence. Reading in the great outdoors is a GRAND way to recharge.
And, of course, the recent tote bags we created for Friends of the Charleston Library just reinforce our commitment to reading.
Here’s an (incomplete) list of some of the great summer reads the Grand Ideas team is enjoying:
A Paris Wife: A Novel by Paula McLain
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson
Before I Go to Sleep by SJ Watson
Dead in Attic by Chris Rose
Room by Emma Donoghue
One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus
So switch off the computer. Unplug the earphones. Set your cell phone on silent. And enjoy a sunny day, a cool drink and an enticing pile of library books.
You’ll be glad you did.
